Wallace House Under Wraps

If you have driven by the Wallace House during the past year you have seen the house with its scaffolding and protective covering. From roof to foundation, the 250 year old house has been undergoing a comprehensive exterior renovaition. The roof has been replaced. the foundation fortified and the chimneys reconstructed. The wood siding was brought to a workshop for its paint to be removed and then three coats of linseed paint applied. The siding is getting additional coats of linseed oil paint as the boards are put back into place. All of the windows have been removed and are undergoing a similar treatment.

These are exciting times for all of us that love this house and the stories of the people who lived and visited it, along with its role in our collective American history.

We look forward to announcing in the near future when the house will once again be open to the public.
